pokhara

pokhara sits just by the phewa lake. it's a lot more quiet here than in kathmandu. i enjoyed the walk by the lake edge a few times. and on the final night i decided to test my stomach by buying a banana lassi from a juice shop by the lake. no diarrhoea.

the highlight of the pokhara trip was getting to see the annapurna himalayan range. i had woken up very early to take a ride up to sarangkot to watch the sunrise. it was cloudy at first, but they cleared as the sky began to brighten. then the highest peaks started burning golden.

kathmandu

kathmandu is dusty, noisy, and messy. but it's also colourful and lively. and there is good food everywhere. i liked walking alone and using the maps to find places in thamel. after a while, i got used to all the rickshaw men and shopkeepers and street peddlers trying to make me buy things, and got quite good at ignoring them.
