it was raining in the morning again.

oh you must believe me when i say i am happy today, because gp is finally over. i wrote the essay on environment, and i think the next step i'm going to take to protect the environment is to send the gp notes for recycling!

omg yes there's really no more gp forever. i think we've all lost track of time already. but everything will be over soon, and it's halloween today.

i had brunch with mummy, and all the time i kept receiving more and more 'good luck' messages from everyone, with the occasional 'god bless'.

physics was bad. and so was my hair. the first question already shocked me for a while, and then when i went on i left more and more blanks, so i was done with the paper 45 minutes before time. and then i was staring at all those shit questions begging to be answered. omg i think die already.

it was quite irritating how little space there was for the three-mark questions. and i think we're all focusing on the wrong things to study =( there were not enough calculation questions!

it's been such a cold day! and i had the bomb cambridge interview. omg would you believe it? the interviewer took the physics question that i didn't do in the written test and made me do it today =( it was so hard until he guided me through it. and then i began to realise how dumb i might have appeared.

huh what is elastic modulus?

so can you write me the equation of motion? huh what's 'equation of motion'?

so what is a? a is g. yes, but what is a? huh? *scratch head* looks at me blankly. oh! a is d2x/dt2! yes, it is.

i really think i looked very dumb in front of him =( and then the question finally looked easy. and, we ran out of time before i could reach the end of the question. on top of that, i scribbled my working on this paper and jumped here and there on the paper so it looked really messy. and then i asked him if i could keep the paper, but no, the paper's going to england! oh no! i think the application is gone already.

never mind, i had good practice for physics tomorrow already. now i know what 'equation of motion' is.

anyway, i had famous amos cookies after the interview. i walked past this guy who was talking animatedly to himself. probably for his oral presentation, but it was so funny i started laughing.

there was some light rain, and i am very calm about tomorrow. anyhow, there was a really suave guy holding flowers and a card on the train.

last night the moon shone into my bedroom. like a strip of bright something on my bed. when i lay down, i could see the lunar corona. and then it rained today afternoon.

oh my dog, 'A' levels is coming. i did chemistry and climatology and heroes today. now i'm reading the personal statement i submitted to ucas yesterday for fear that they test me on the things i wrote. oh my left eye just twitched. yes, they will test me on that tomorrow.

physics is in two days, and gp is in three. on the other hand, you have another five fingers.

i got a taste of the cambridge maths today! went for the cambridge written test at hci. accidentally went too early, and got to the wrong bus stop because lenard didn't tell me which bus stop to get off. anyhow, i sat at the bus stop for a long while, and i do believe that the guy who sat a few metres away from me was either yeow hui or yeow sheng. when i finally got into hci, i was still one hour early, and i met lenard too!

they didn't allow the use of calculator for the maths test, and that made many things very difficult =( but anyway, the test was quite fun. there were twelve questions, and the instructions was to do at most four. can tell why it was at most four. want to do more also don't know how to.
haha i couldn't attempt so many of them because they just looked so hard. and there was all those cosh, sinh and tanh things that i never saw before. and their induction question was some bomb! like bomb, yah.

however, all is not lost. i think i did very well on two questions. one is the differential equations question, for which i drew very pretty solution curves. the other is the probability question on jack sparrow. so in the end, i submitted two completed questions, and two half-done questions.

i planned to walk home from city hall, but then i decided that the lemon meringue pie i bought couldn't withstand heat. so, i think i'm slowly putting on weight.

in the morning i did the bomb njc physics paper 3. did a little physics consultation with linus and mr sze. i realised that when you become a physics teacher, it's quite freaky the way you find answers to students' questions, and question is your own argument is valid.

beejuan walked into three poles, and took three chilli sauces in one day. dinner was at manhattan fish market. it appears i couldn't eat enough today. soyabean ice cream isn't very nice.

i believe we're all living a life of quiet desperation. desperate for things to happen. things to come.

i dreamt of polar bears dancing on a snow-covered slope. went to school for some chemistry. did more chemistry in the library when the air-con suddenly turned off. it's grey skies today. my salt intake today is quite spiked. missed an empty train, but got onto another.

i don't know which is more sad - to live at the poles, see the aurora every night and find them boring, or to live elsewhere, yearn to see the aurora but choose not to go and see it because you're afraid you'll get used to seeing it.

faraday + lenz

woke up at 1.30pm and watched 巴黎恋人, which i've been watching on and off for the past few weeks. some soapy korean drama, but i still cried watching her cry. zomg. there was no christian lunch today. but i realised that the person in front of me for dinner just gets fatter and fatter by the week.

no egg tart? no egg tart?! angryz.

had our last human geography lecture with mr lee. he sang for us. i went to the library and whacked the cjc maths papers for four hours straight. it rained yet again, and today there was much much loud thunder. then it was cool weather after that. i caught teckming mugging chemistry in a classroom.

even though last night was bad, i still like to see sugar on the donut. it's like the magical blanket that hides what's ugly and makes everything beautiful.

i am in need of a longer post, but that's for after the big examination and some baking.

today i woke up at 12! happened to watch felicity huffman and martha stewart on tv. they were frosting a cake and making it look like a lion. so cute!

knowledge drive

i had a funny stomach in the morning. but we all know it will be a good day, because i have the cookies. there was a boy mindlessly solving a rubik's cube. what, really, is the point of solving a rubik's cube after you've memorised the algorithm from the net?

went for the chemistry tutorial, geography lecture, and physics mock paper. i think everyone loved the cookies. but the birthday auntie ruolin wasn't in school to claim the star cookie, and shanghui left school so i couldn't give him the star cookie. but i think the star cookie was so big and pretty!

it rained again.

stayed in the library until very late to finish up my chemistry work. besides, the rain trapped me in school. it was like fasting/starving myself. had a very late dinner in the end. oh, and the star cookie went to nadz.

i remember that in primary 1 we used to have these big storybooks where the whole class sat in front of and read out loud. there was one called 'nanny nanny poo poo', and i never understood how to pronounce it.

it was pouring today, when i was baking cookies. i don't think they tasted as nice as the ones i made last time. seems like salt is still required even though the butter was salted.

spent a $50 voucher eating at a place that called brown sugar as 'golden sugar crystals'. it was truly uncomfortable to be eating there.

i've finally churned out my october-november revision timetable and it looks very packed. no more baking for the next six weeks. or maybe i could bake on the weekend just before the last paper, which is just physics mcq.

i'm using mozilla firefox to type this one. it even has spellcheck. today i tried meringue from cedele. not that fantastic.

i have nothing to offer today. but on monday i'll try to bake cookies, and create the famous amos taste.

i've been so sleepy today. there were some nice videos at the farewell assembly, but it didn't really feel like a farewell assembly, although the counter on amanda's blog says it's 18 days to 'A' levels.

did chemistry with auntie ruolin and then it started raining heavily after she left. it became quite scary, so i went to the library to continue doing work. huixing had the ikea snake!

i got an empty train home again today.

the seibu

this is the making of the seibu. the seibu is a white cake with two layers of filling, each with a different character. in one, we have dark chocolate ganache with bananas, and in the other, we have white chocolate ganache with strawberries. the seibu took me from 11am to 6pm yesterday, and weiyang helped in the later part too!

white cake batter. i didn't beat the egg whites manually this time. the electric mixer does it much faster.

into the oven. actually, until this point everything was still fine.

and the cake rose nicely.

until the surface peeled. because the bloody oven was one notch too hot.

i really liked the vanilla smell of the white cake.

and the extremely excellent dark chocolate ganache.

white cooking chocolate. i think some people love this, but i absolutely hate it. but what to do, seibu likes it, so the seibu must have it.

and then when i added cream into the white chocolate it became this disgusting corn soup thing which smelled like white rabbit candies/butterscotch sauce. anyhow, i thought it went wrong, and then i went all the way out to city hall, to a small baking shop, to get more white cooking chocolate. and that's where weiyang came in, and bought the 大長今s. then, when i re-did the white chocolate ganache i got back the same shit! so i figured that it's supposed to be like that. ugh.

this was my best attempt at preventing the ants from getting to the cake. in each bowl there is some water, so i thought the water could stop the ants. but then i realised that the ants could still get to the cake without passing through the water. anyhow, they weren't any ants.

this is the whipped whip topping cream, which is a little firmer than normal whipped cream. it's also non-dairy, which means less fatty.

i skip past the slicing of the cake into three layers and then putting the dark chocolate ganache with the bananas in between the bottom two layers. probably because i have no photos on that, which is probably because weiyang was messing things up at this point! but here is the layer with the white chocolate ganache and strawberries.

after the cake ring was removed, we see the layers inside the cake! i didn't slap more white chocolate ganache into the strawberry layer because i figured it would be too disgusting. i used the whip topping cream to complete the layer instead.

and the whip topping cream was used the cover the whole cake. i must say the surface was definitely not smooth enough. it definitely needs more practice and better control of the spinning plate.

the verdict? beejuan says 'A***', and requests for a the beejuan, for which i'm thinking 80% dark chocolate truffle mud cake! i think the seibu was definitely worth the effort. it was a little too sweet on the white chocolate ganache, but the dark chocolate ganache balanced it back!

ok, today i went to school early, and finally got started on the chemistry booklet of prelim papers. i needed air-conditioning, so i went to sit with nadz through her lit lecture, and the lecturer noticed me doing history notes all the time. but it was quite fun. i learnt anapest today.

stall 5 kindly let me put the seibu in their fridge. yes, they were nice, but the refrigerator wasn't! omg when the cake came out, it smelled like wanton fillings! walked through some art exhibition in the art room. it was like raining big red ants on the road outside school because the trees were being cut...

then, dinner was at chen fu ji, along clarke quay. i think their service was very good! they were so agreeable to our many demands when we were preparing the seibu. i think seibu liked the seibu. so, the recipe is definitely a keeper. haha, there was also a photo album for seibu, and we were laughing at all the wrong chinese words we wrote. like, ya.

today, i was standing at the junction in front of peninsula plaza, where we stood after the syo concert.

obstacle course

everyone was watching a dunman boy solving a rubik's cube on the train. went to school today for mr lee's geography. it was back to a lecture, like last year. sometimes i wonder if i'll ever get another cool teacher like mr lee.

i must have done something good today, because half of my worries last night was alleviated today!

on the channel8 show at 7pm today, i learnt something strange. the baker said that we should beat the egg white manually because everyone's strength is different, and the timing is different; the cake will have a different character too!

so when i got home, i tried whisking an egg white by myself. and omg it took 20 minutes to beat it until it became stiff. then i remembered that egg white and sugar made meringue.

went to school early for chemistry. got peanut butter biscuits from amanda haha! so cute, first it was between biscuits or pau, then it was between peanut butter biscuits or oreo. i like choice! went to mcdonald's for breakfast/lunch, and then there was the mothershit.

anyway, the weather was freaky today. during the mock gp paper. there was some loud thunder that penetrated the concrete walls. then at 3:51pm i thought the weather was very nice to walk home in. and then at tiong bahru it was raining like watery poop.

auntie ruolin has powers to summon empty trains.

there were many lights at twin regency. i'm still disappointed that it's chicken essence.

SI units and SI scars

it's been a wet and gloomy day. i ate christian food for lunch. i've been practising the double stops in the second movement of mendelssohn's violin concerto. i think it sounds so nice, especially in the recording i've been listening to. but maybe it's just to get back the calluses on my fingers.

and, i think i will continue eating christian food for sunday lunches.

i am eating week-old strawberries and they taste funky now.

i have a 'bulky item' waiting for me in the post office tomorrow. i'm thinking of a white cake with a hazulnut crunch base, with creamy chocolate frosting and strawberries on top. even though last night was very bad, i still woke up early and did the chemistry papers today.

i've made a good chocolate sauce that goes with julie's butter crackers. now i need to thicken it up into a ganache.

easily distracted bunny

the mud cake yesterday took me from 5 to midnight to make. but i didn't add in water to replace the liqueur, and it became too dense. but, it looked very nice, and the fudge was good. today's the last day of school, and there were so many photos taken. clara brought donuts too. mr lee wrote all over my papers.

i walked home from city hall to exercise off the fats from the cheesy dinner. listened to sorinuri all the way but it's battery never drained out. i am reminded of sonya's metro gnome joke. the train was empty, like your heart. do you want to eat a mud cake? or cookies? or strawberry shortcakes? or cupcakes? just tell me; i'll make them for you. i still love you for everything.

quite disappointed with how the day ended, because it is unnatural to the rule. but believe me, the thing up there is the biggest lie ever told by man to man, and there is no rule.

i think the mud cake was not worth the effort. so many things aren't.

nen nen = milk

went through the physical geography papers today. i am very satisfied with my essays! lunch was at ri, and we all ate from the western stall again. so nice. we also got back h3 maths papers. shanghui was second in the batch! but he said my score was a 'cheater' =(

i got home at 5 and have been baking since! i did the rich truffle mud cake again, but this time i did 1.5 times the original recipe sans liqueur and the batter came out even better! it was airless, unlike the last time. i think this time we really have a dense mud cake. i also managed to create a chocolate fudge to go with the cake.

my hair is so long that i had to clip it up so that it wouldn't get in my way. i've also tried multi-tasking today. i was cooking vegetables, baking salmon, baking cake and taking calls at the same time. too bad there's no camera at home this week to take photos of the cake.

watching the oven in the dark is quite sinister, but nice.

吃里爬外

i think you could say that the mud cake caused an instant uproar! i think there's much for celebration today. the sun rose earlier than usual and dyed the sky pinky. we've gotten back all results (but not physical geography paper), and i've finally gotten 5 As. like finally.

desperate housewives is back! today i fell asleep on the train home. it's like you don't realise how tired you are until you stop using your brain and can't stay awake. took a walk around cake shops for some fresh and new ideas. i need flavour ideas. how about vanilla and garlic?

by the way, happy children's day, for all the people who are still children inside, especially those who still go crazy over cookies, chocolates, and donuts.
