i have finally managed to squeeze out time to write about the happenings of the preceeding twelve hours.
it was a particularly rainy day yesterday. met beejuan and jia en for lunch at food republic. i got fleeced at the curry rice stall. i have finally seen (and touched) a kitchenaid mixer, and a cuisinart food processor. these are things worth working for.
beejuan manipulated me into going to marriott hotel to meet the would-not-come-so-early weiyang. instead, the seibu made her surreal and dream-like appearance, walking through a dim, yet glowing, passageway. yes, the seibu is back.
the rest of the day was spent moving back and forth between shopping centres, looking at (nigella) books, finding food, waiting for people. when you walk past a magazine shelf in a bookstore, don't you feel them all smiling at you?
dinner was not a feast at jia en's house, but at fish & co. (i really need to stop eating there.) interestingly, the menu at wheelock was different from the one at paragon. still, i wanted to make the bitter orange ice cream, and so we went to get ingredients. at great world's cold storage, there is a very swoon-inducing array of ghirardelli products - from chocolate bars to cocoa. deep, deep pleasure.
and so i did get to make the ice cream, using the recipe from nigella bites. it was yet another test on my manual whipping power. i know there's always the mixer, but the purist in me must do it by hand. photos to come tomorrow - the ice cream is in the process of being frozen right now.
we played beejuan's 七等猪 game, and i became the 七等猪. oh, and i got a whole bunch of magazines from seibu that feature 东方神起, and a photo card of jaejoong; more happiness now.
while some dota late into the night, i work at creating, and so i'm back home and i just finished a batch of chocolate chunk cookies (recipe from american book). well, not exactly chocolate chunk, just chocolate chips. there was no brown sugar - i finished using it, or rather, couldn't find it; thankfully there was muscovado sugar leftover. i don't know what came over me: usually i take the cookies out once the edges are firm, but i let these approach very close to being burnt.
now, my last task before i retire for the night: pack the cookies.
oh yes, i have a rabbit in the house now.
looking forward to the egyptian class dinner.
