new 2009

egg tarts for 2009. i've entered the year to ORD. i used the recipe that sunshine's mother gave me when we went to his house to make cookies, those kind that result from auntie-ish exchanges.
the dough was very tiring to make because the ingredients took very long to blend together. the resulting dough was easy to roll out, not tearing at all, but in that way, quite tough.
lining the tart molds with the pastry, and then ladling in the custard mixture, which was like a sweet eggy sugar solution.
the tarts puffed cutely in the oven, but after some time they would either deflate for no apparent reason, or split down the middle and bulge again before deflating. under the oven lighting, they all looked like little sunflowers blooming. and they tasted reasonably nice for home-made egg tarts.

some miscellaneous matters.
jia en brought back some real millionaire's shortbread from london. very nutty, very buttery, very fatty.
and my black sheep broke again. sorry, sonya! my little prince snowglobe was also spoilt already; the little prince detached from the glass surface (by itself) and can now swim all around when i shake the globe.
