fait accompli
yes the crazy rush to get to the marina countdown. met siuchu, beejuan and yiyan at dhoby ghaut for dinner. everything was fine, until we found out that the couple went to watch the curse of the golden flower without asking us. dinner was at ichiban-sushi, and i had the chicken katsu with salmon sashimi set. omg so nice!
then we headed to the cathay for some ben and jerry's. yay i had dublin mudslide and oatmeal cookie chunk with a waffle cone. oh there was this pair of singers who called themselves 'virtu'. they were singing for the quite-unresponsive audience, and one of them (a guy) can sing really high.
the rest of the time was spent trying to get a place to watch the fireworks. esplanade was way too crowded and so we sat at the city hall building to wait until 12 midnight. oh my, like cinderella.
it didn't really feel like the new year. sure, the fireworks were nice, but when you stand at the place where you stood exactly one year ago, watching the same thing, you begin to think about what you've accomplished in the year before. and the record isn't very pretty.
the entire place was simply crowded after the fireworks display ended. we were all moving slowly through the crowds, and then i saw some people from rjc. walked under elgin bridge to get to a 7-eleven store, which was so super crowded.
i was walking back home from the chinatown area. it was my second time walking home from that place in the night. it was still freaky to walk past the hospital and mortuary. and now i'm waiting for my hair to dry after a nice long bath. happy new year.
